My Educational Apps

In this video I introduce some of my educational apps. Please, take a look and let me know what you think:

When my students read as a group they seem to do very well, but when they read individually they struggle with pronunciation, fluency and confidence. The answer it seemed was that they needed more practice at home, but again, they lacked the support they needed at home to do so. These apps are an attempt to give them the support that they need. The text is highlighted as it is read, there is audio for them to model, it stops after each line so the students can repeat, it is animated and fun and it tests comprehension in a really fun way.

The video came out a little choppy for some reason, probably partly to do with the screen recorder and partly flaws in the editing process. The apps themselves are not choppy or out of sync.

If you are interested in taking a look at the apps, you can find them here: CAT MAT Educational Android Apps

Some of the clips in the video are from updates that are not yet available on the Google Play store. I hope to roll them out in a week or two.

Sound quality varies due to technical difficulties that I was having with my screen recorder. It seems I can only get good audio when it is recorded separately.

Suggestions:

You are going to make a number of videos throughout this course, so now is the time to experiment and find software you like. It might also be worth thinking about creating or using some reusable assets to help you make your videos. You may even be able to reuse the same assets in presentations other assignments.
